Sagrada Familia Dress Code
La Sagrada Familia does not discriminate between any gender or age group to implement its dress code.
Spain’s most prominent Catholic church, it is a place of worship where an appropriate dress code is considered a form of respect.
If visitors don’t appear in proper attire and violate the Sagrada Familia dress code, the church has the right to deny entry to them.
The general dress code for anyone who visits includes a list of what should be avoided:
- Shirts that don’t cover shoulders
- Flip flops
- Swimwear and beachwear
- Transparent or translucent clothing
- Low necklines
- Clothing with promotional, political or offensive designs
- Pants or skirts above mid-thigh

Dress code for men
La Sagrada Familia’s dress code for men includes certain attire they should steer clear of, including:
- Shorts or pants that end above mid-thigh
- Vests and sleeveless shirts
- Shirts and t-shirts with offensive or promotional designs
- Hats (unless you have religious or medical reasons)
- Swimwear
If you choose to wear sleeveless clothing, we suggest you pair it with a jacket or shawl to adhere to the dress code.
Dress code for women
Women’s dress code includes attire they should refrain from and is similar to the dress code for men.
Sagrada Familia’s dress code for women suggests avoiding the following:
- Skirts, shorts or pants that end above mid-thigh
- Tops that are sleeveless, backless and have a plunging neckline
- Shirts and t-shirts with offensive or promotional designs
- Hats (unless you have religious or medical reasons)
- Swimwear
Women can also add a jacket or shawl to their outfits if they wish to wear sleeveless or backless tops.
Dress code for children
Yes, children have a dress code to visit the Sagrada Familia too!
The same dress code for men and women applies to children as well.
